An often unasked question should be the starting point of installing Medscribbler:

» I am having problems starting or completing a download. What can I do?

Your troubles may be related to your system, your ISP and connection to the Internet, or the your local network permissions Here are some suggestions that should help:

  1. Make sure you are using a recent browser version, preferably a 6.x or later version of Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox or 6.x or later version of Internet Explorer.
  2. If downloading through a firewall and/or proxy server, contact your system administrator to make sure downloads are allowed through the firewall and that your system is configured properly to allow downloads. If using a dial-up modem (not recommended) and ISP, contact your ISP's technical support group and explain the problem. Ask for assistance on their end.
  3. Make sure you have plenty of disk space! At least 250MB.
  4. Wait, then try it again! Intermittent problems happen regularly on the Internet for a variety of reasons. You may have much better success if you close your browser completely, wait a while, restart the browser, clear your browser cache completely, then try again from the beginning.
  5. Use a Download Manager. Many are available for free. If you click a download link and receive a "404 file not found" error, this may be caused by an unsupported download manager. Most download managers will work with our system.
» When I click the download link, why does my browser displays weird looking text?

The reason this is happening is because the browser email client is getting confused about what the data is and tries to display it instead of downloading it. In the preferences for your browser or email client, you need to configure it to download files that have an extension like ".zip" or ".exe".

A "quick fix" for this is to try one of the following, which will allow you to download the file right away:

  • Hold down the "Shift" key at the same time as you click on the link
  • Or Right-click your mouse on the link, which will bring up a menu box. Select the option to "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" (depending on your browser) and save the file to the desired location.
» Why did I not get an email reply for my Medscribbler Community download request?

All Medscribbler Community download requests receive an email message within 10 minutes. If you don't receive a reply within 10 minutes, your email server is probably blocking emails from our account or our email address is not in the white-list of your anti spam software program.

Increasingly, ISPs are using filtering systems to try and keep Spam out of customers' inboxes. Sometimes, they accidentally filter the e-mail that you want to receive.

To make sure that our emails and support e-mails are not filtered into your "junk" or "bulk" folder, please add Medscribbler to your list of trusted senders. Here's how:

  • Hotmail: Place the domain medscribbler.com in your safe list. The safe list can be accessed via the "Options" link next to the main menu tabs.
  • AOL: Place the domain medscribbler.com in your address book.
  • Yahoo! Mail: If our email is filtered to your 'bulk' folder, open the message and click on the "this is not Spam" link next to the "From" field.
  • Other providers: If our email is being filtered, try adding our domain medscribbler.com or our email's 'From' or 'Reply-to' address (postmaster@medscribbler.com) to your address book or contact list.

If this option is not available, try moving the message to your 'inbox' or forwarding the message to yourself.

If subsequent messages continue to be filtered, call or e-mail your ISP's tech support and specifically ask how you can be sure to receive all e-mail from medscribbler.com. Follow their instructions for whitelisting medscribbler.com.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but these circumstances are beyond our control. All we can do is work together with the ISPs to shut out the spammers.

Note: If you haven't received a reply from us within 10 minutes it's very likely that our original reply has been deleted. Since we cannot know this, you may re-try the download request form. It may help if you give us a second, different email address.
