Software Assurance
Software Assurance is available to purchasers who have purchased a Medscribbler EMR system.
The "instance" error in the installation of Medscribbler Lite is because the Database Server program is already installed on the computer. This was done by a previous install of Medscribbler or by another program or even as a "stand alone".
Simply cancel out of the screen and go on to the next step of installing the Medscribbler Database. Medscribbler will install and configure as normal. (see Question 7 if there are subsequent Invalid User Password logon errors that are not explained by the Readme or Help files).
Installing the Medscribbler BDE if it is already on the computer will only set the BDE to accept Medscribbler. The manual set-up is usually only for developers or programmers for specific uses.
To manually set-up the BDE (if it is already installed on the computer by another program)
go to the computer's Control Panel
go to Database
set an alias to Medscribbler
Blob size 1000
Blobs to Cache to 6500
click Apply
restart Medscribbler.
Only attempt this if there is a specific purpose in mind and the results of the change will be understood.
It may be a problem if the other program's installation set the authentication of MSDE or SQL Server to Windows users only and not "mixed mode" of both SQL Server and Windows. Medscribbler is built for robust and secure remote access, many other programs are not. The error generated is on logon "Invalid User and Password". The MSDE or SQL Server is only to be suspected if one of them is already on the computer (see Question 5) and one of the log files, medscribblers.log or medscribblerd.log or medscribblera.log, (usually located in the :/Program Files/Brunmed/Medscribbler Lite folder) contains these words "Not associated with a trusted SQL General SQL error".
If the other program installed is MSDE click go to the Microsoft® website for instructions on how to turn on the "mixed mode" authentication (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325). If Microsoft® SQL Server is installed use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager to:
Expand the server group.
Right-click the server, and then click Properties.
Click the Security tab.
Under Authentication, click SQL Server and Windows.
Under Audit level, select the level at which user accesses to Microsoft® SQL Server are to be recorded in the SQL Server error log:
a.. None causes no auditing to be performed.
b.. Success causes only successful login attempts to be audited.
c.. Failure causes only failed login attempts to be audited.
d.. All causes successful and failed login attempts to be audited.
This procedure should only be attempted by a Microsoft® Certified Professional. Another way, if the offending program is not being used, is simply un-install it and MSDE or SQL Server using the Control Panel, then install the Database Server and the Medscribbler Database from the Medscribbler install. All other user/password problems are covered in the Readme's and Product Help files.
Any error that prevents the installation file from running is because the download was not completed. The download may not complete because of a slow or poor internet connection or because of some limitation on your internet service. Sometimes a download manager can overcome this problem. Contact your internet service provider for more information.
Medscribbler Lite and Clinic Pro use Microsoft SQL server or Microsoft MSDE. Both these use the character ' in their command dictionary. Do not change and name the location of the Medscribbler database folders using this ' character ie C:\Mark's Folder will cause a SQL server error in the installation. try again with out using an '.
